ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Rest Lab 8: Greenspace
In this eighth iteration of Rest Lab, visitors are invited to enter a playful, restorative greenspace inside the museum. Soft artificial turf covers the gallery floor, inviting visitors to slow down and stretch out. By creating a visual and tactile interruption in typical museum spaces, Rest Lab 8: Greenspace, provides a calm, grounding atmosphere for people to gather.
Rest Lab is a creative, experimental space that invites resting with intention. Each Rest Lab is unique and encourages visitors to experiment with various ways of taking up space in the galleries of Krannert Art Museum or elsewhere on campus. In the museum, Rest Lab has occupied spaces that otherwise would remain empty as they “rest” between exhibitions. Creating spaces that resist the demands for productivity, urgency, and overexertion, Rest Lab invites visitors to slow down.
Curated by Kamila Glowacki, Assistant Curator of Community Engagement and Learning, and Ishita Dharap, Artist and Educator.
